Best-Selling Author Stephen King is back again, but with a new perspective on change, and a new book with character from Minneapolis. King’s newest release “Duma Key” is also a bit different from his others. IT takes place in Florida and not in his home State of Maine like most of his other stories. In the book, Minneapolis building contractor Edgar Freemantle moves to Florida and takes up art after being injured in a construction accident. His new life takes another turn when the supernatural intrudes. The story draws on King’s real life experience, after he was struck by a van while walking near his summer home in North Lovell in 1999.
In September, King turned 60 and started to embrace change. King has always been a democatic supporter and his newfound attitude on change has led him to declared his support for Illinois Senator Barack Obama.
“We need a big change," King said. "It's an amazing thing to see the two front runners be a woman and a black man. Obama has the least baggage of the two and is willing to try new things. It wouldn't be business as usual. Also it would do wonders for us in the world community to have a black man in the White House," he said.
Duma Key is available in stores today. ($28)
